Scholarships

Since its creation in 1997, the Cisco Networking Academy has enrolled more than two million students in 165 countries in networking courses. Unfortunately, the demand for a skilled IT workforce continues to exceed the supply, and many students, particularly those in developing countries and underserved communities, cannot afford the costs of tuition, which has created a need for student scholarships. Cisco Learning Institute provides scholarships for students by partnering with corporations and global development agencies to fund tuition payments. Programs include:
The John Morgridge Scholarship Program
In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Cisco Networking Academy, Cisco Learning Institute is pleased to announce the John Morgridge Scholarship Program for Cisco Networking Academy students in the United States. In the spirit of public-private partnerships and John Morgridge's vision for partnerships, Panduit and NDG are sponsoring scholarships together with Cisco Learning Institute.
The John Morgridge Scholarship Program is a prestigious award that will be available to students from each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. The scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, community involvement and a demonstrated commitment to the technology field. To launch the scholarship program, ten scholarships were awarded to students in ten select states in January 2008. An additional 51 scholarships will be awarded in September 2008. The NDG Scholarship Program
In 2007 the Network Development Group (NDG) and the Cisco Learning Institute partnered to provide 30 $500 scholarships for CCNA 3 & 4 to Networking Academy students at U.S. post-secondary institutions. The scholarship program was sponsored by NDG, the creators of NETLAB+® remote lab solutions, and was administered by the Cisco Learning Institute in partnership with the Cisco Networking Academy. The purpose of the scholarship program was to encourage the continuation of CCNA training beyond CCNA course 2 by partially funding enrollment in CCNA course 3 and CCNA course 4 during the upcoming academic year.
The ITU, Cisco Systems, and Cisco Learning Institute Joint Scholarship Program for Women Pilot Program
In March 2006, Cisco Systems and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) announced they would award 100 scholarships to women and girls for IT Essentials at ITU sponsored Cisco Networking Academies. Since 2006, the Cisco Learning Institute has been administering 110 IT Essentials 1 and 2 scholarships to women at Networking Academies in seven countries in Africa and the Middle East. In Phase 1 scholarships were awarded based on the applicant's merit and past accomplishments, as well as technical aptitude. as evaluate best practices, challenges, and requirements for establishing a sustainable and wide-reaching scholarship program. During Phase Two, Cisco Learning Institute will collaborate with Cisco Systems to establish partner support for the funding of future scholarship programs.
Brazil Scholarship Pilot Program for Women and Girls - Programa de Bolsas de Estudo Circuito Cisco de Mulheres para o programa de cursos da Cisco Networking Academy CCNA 1-4
In 2007 Cisco Learning Institute, in partnership with the Cisco Networking Academy, selected Brazil to be the location of a pilot scholarship program in Latin America. Scholarships were provided for women to attend the Cisco Networking Academy Program in the poorest region of Brazil (the Northeast) as well as a growing ICT business area (the South). A total of 50 scholarships for CCNA 1 - 4 will be awarded to women at two SENAI Networking Academies in Brazil during the 2007-2008 academic school year.
Poland Gender Scholarship for CCNA 1 - 4 - CCNA dla Pan
Due to the low percentage of women in IT in Poland, in 2007 a Gender Scholarship Pilot was established Poland to encourage women to enter to Cisco Networking Academy and IT fields. Cisco Learning Institute provided half of the funding for 30 CCNA 1-4 partial scholarships; while participating students are paying for the other half of the scholarships. The participating Academies are Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and Zespol Szkol Chlodniczych i Elektronicznych Local Academy in Gdynia, Poland.
