International Initiatives

Instructional Practices Video Project

15 Site Pilot

Cisco Learning Institute is excited to be engaged in a long-term, international classroom video project aiming to:

Document via video the instructional strategies used to deliver the Networking Academy curricula in classrooms around the world. Create a series of professional development sessions that improve teachers' use of and facility with activities in the classroom, as demonstrated by their classroom videos.

We are currently conducting initial site visits to interview the instructors, videotape classrooms, and deliver video equipment. Following these visits, instructors will videotape their class once per week and send those videos to Cisco Learning Institute, where they will be reviewed and analyzed. Periodically, the instructors will engage in development sessions designed to encourage reflection on their teaching practices and allow them to improve as classroom teachers. Development sessions that successfully meet these goals, based on the video evidence, will then be disseminated through the Networking Academy. This opportunity enables us to initially capture what happens in classrooms around the world and to examine in detail what factors influence teaching strategies. We are partnering with CaseNEX using their TPR tool to code teaching actions.
