CLI Announces the John Morgridge Scholarship Program for U.S. Networking Academy Students

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Cisco Networking Academy, Cisco Learning Institute is pleased to announce the John Morgridge Scholarship Program. In the spirit of public-private partnerships and John Morgridge's vision for bringing groups together, two important partners of the Cisco Networking Academy: Panduit, a global partner, and NDG, an associate partner, will sponsor scholarships together with Cisco Learning Institute.

The John Morgridge Scholarship is a prestigious award. John Morgridge joined Cisco in 1988 as President and CEO; he currently serves as Chairman Emeritus. During his tenure, Cisco has become the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. Mr. Morgridge helped set the culture of Cisco; one of innovation, empowerment, and giving back. This scholarship award serves to honor his efforts and long-term commitment to basic human needs, responsible citizenship, and access to education.

In honor of John Morgridge, one $500 USD scholarship will be awarded to a Cisco Networking Academy student in each of the fifty United States plus the District of Columbia. Cisco Learning Institute will begin accepting applications on November 1, 2008 and the last day to submit an application will be November 30, 2008. Award winners will be selected and notified by December 15, 2008.

To be considered for the John Morgridge Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicant must be a U.S. resident to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicant must currently be enrolled or planning to enroll in a CCNA Discovery or CCNA Exploration course at a U.S. networking academy, post-secondary educational institution in Spring 2009 or Fall 2009. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to the scholarship award.
  • Applicant must be pursuing the CCNA certification and interested in professional careers in the networking field. Community involvement and professional experience will also be considered.
  • Applicant must visit the Cisco Learning Institute website and submit an online application by November 30, 2008. Applicants must answer all questions; incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applicants who have received a scholarship from Cisco Learning Institute within the past twelve months are not eligible.
