Founded in 1999, Cisco Learning Institute considers Accessibility, Scalability, and Sustainability to be critical in addressing the needs of education in the 21st century. As Cisco Learning Institute moves forward into the future, our focus is one that calls to action our ability to create partnerships with other learning organizations. The intent is to collaborate on solutions that result in student success as impacted by teacher depth of knowledge and quality of practice. We believe that successful educational experiences positively impact the social fabric of our nation and world. Our vision is to maximize the value of the design, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of learning innovations in Mathematics Education and Networking Education to increase teacher confidence related to their knowledge of the subject and how to teach that subject matter. Metrics for success relate to coherent knowledge, ability to innovate, competence in communication and information technologies, and application of problem-solving skills.

To accomplish our goal, Cisco Learning Institute integrates new technologies into professional learning experiences that enable teacher access at affordable costs. These endeavors include:

  • Providing educators with technologies that allow them to log on to resources/information at any time and to locate suggestions for teaching strategies that work for the diverse learning needs of students
  • Providing educators with access to a community of practice to connect globally with colleagues through the Internet and participate in learning seminars via videoconferencing
  • Providing educators with personalized learning spaces where they are able to search contributions from colleagues and experts in the field to create their own library of resources

In addition, Cisco Learning Institute is investigating whether online learning for educators can be designed to offer social interaction, prompt feedback, engaging activities, instructional flexibility, and adaptation to individual needs in seamless ways. We are gathering success stories that illustrate how to implement quality educational experiences. We are identifying strengths, skills, and other significant instructional factors critical in fostering student success. Cisco Learning Institute is continually developing innovative teaching and learning solutions that are tailored to the demanding lifestyles of teachers. These innovations are aimed at providing 24-hour access to creative and effective instructional resources. We work with schools, colleges and universities to offer professional learning solutions that are scalable and sustainable. We invite educators worldwide to participate in this investigation with us. Educators can share their experiences locally and globally through videoconferencing and through the capturing of videos from inside their classrooms on what works in different cultures. We also offer web environments for exchanging views on educational materials and educational strategies.
