Cisco Learning Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to change the way teachers teach and students learn through technology. We are committed to innovation in education on a global scale through integrating technology into instructional design, teaching practice, resources, and support. We partner with other non-profits, educational institutions and professional organizations to develop scalable and sustainable solutions to improve the quality of learning experiences of teachers and students. Cisco Learning Institute designs innovations to improve teaching and learning. We combine well-established teaching methodologies and proven educational philosophies with a rich mix of interactive technologies in web-based resources to promote student success.

Cisco Learning Institute's vision focuses on designing and implementing professional development solutions that deepen educators' knowledge of subject matter and their ability to teach that subject matter. These innovative solutions are tailored to their demanding lifestyles and empower their practice with quality instructional resources and access to collaborative participation. Technology integration and use of data analysis are critical components in creating our products and services.

K-5 Teacher Leaders in Mathematics

We are collaborating with K-8 teachers in North Carolina to inform the design of a model to establish a National Academy that strengthens the knowledge and teaching practices of K-5 teachers.

Cisco Networking Academy Instructor Professional Development

We design professional development solutions for the world's largest e-learning program, the Cisco Networking Academy, in 164 countries. We use video research to investigate best practices in teaching within this global community.

Evaluation and Research Studies

Teacher quality is recognized as the most powerful school-related influence on a student's academic performance, thus we investigate the impact of professional learning design and implementation on teacher quality.

International Initiatives

We identified 15 Networking Academies around the world to study instructional strategies for use in creating professional learning sessions for Instructors. These academies represent a range of education levels and geography. The participating instructors vary in experience and expertise.

The technology of Cisco Learning Institute's teaching and learning solutions enables the scalability and sustainability of our contributions to the global educational community. The technology is essential in connecting with educators in their global classrooms and in providing dynamic ways for them to interact not only with content, but also with each other in collaborative communities. Our tools enable educators to learn from each other, to share their ideas digitally, to use new technologies to support their own learning, and to consult with experts through interactive online environments.

Teaching Tools for K-5 Teachers of Mathematics

Cisco Learning Institute has developed an interactive Math whiteboard and is developing technology to support a Mathematics Professional Online Learning Center.

Teaching Tools for Networking Academy Instructors

Cisco Learning Institute provides a Professional Development Center that allows for personalization.

Cisco Learning Institute offers VSee^™ Technology, Cisco Meeting Place, and WebEx^™ conferencing solutions to educators participating in our initiatives.
